India closed the World Para-Games Titles in Kobe, Japan on Sunday with 17 decorations – six gold, five silver and six bronze. It put India 6th in the standings, where more gold decorations puts a nation higher, behind China (87), Brazil (42), Uzbekistan (13), Extraordinary England (12) and the US (24).

It is India’s best appearing at a World Para-Sports Titles – outperforming the 10 decorations succeeded at the 2023 release in Paris. Before that India had won nine decorations (in 2019), five awards (in 2017), two awards (in 2015) and one decoration (in 2013 and 2011).

India’s gold award victors were: Mariyappan Thangavelu (Men’s High Leap T63), Sumit Antil (Men’s Spear Toss F64), Sachin Khilari (Men’s Shot Put F46), Simran Sharma (Ladies’ 200m T12), Deepthi Jeevanji (Ladies’ 400m T20), Ekta Bhyana (Ladies’ Club Toss F51).

The runner up finish, for a silver decoration, was achieved by: Yogesh Kathuniya (Men’s Examine Toss F56), Nishad Kumar (Men’s High Leap T47), Rinku (Men’s Spear Toss F46), Kashish Lakra (Ladies’ Club Toss F51), Bhagyashri Jadhav (Ladies’ Shot Put F34).

Furthermore, finally, the bronze awards went to: Dharambir (Men’s Club Toss F51), Navdeep (Men’s Spear Toss F41), Ajeet Singh (Men’s Lance Toss F46), Sandeep (Men’s Spear Toss F64), Preethi Buddy (Ladies’ 100m T35), Preethi Buddy (Ladies’ 200m T35).

Past the awards won, Indian para-competitors set standards during the Titles. Jeevanji set a World, Titles and Asian record of 55.07 seconds in Ladies’ 400m T20. In the pre-finals, she had proactively established a mainland standard with season of 56.18 seconds.

Khilari set an Asian standard in the Men’s Shot Put F46 occasion with a toss of 16.30m. Dharambir, as well, set a mainland standard in Men’s Club Toss F51 when he tossed 33.61m.

Thangavelu, in the mean time, set a Title standard by enlisting a 1.88m imprint in Men’s High Leap T42 occasion.
